What this module actually does.
Leave management is one of those categories where "table stakes" varies wildly by company. A SaaS startup in San Francisco offers unlimited PTO and just needs to track when people are out. A retailer in Sydney needs to calculate casual loading, accrue annual leave at 4 weeks per year of service per the NES, and track personal leave separately from carer's leave.
The module handles both. Configurable policies per jurisdiction, country, and employee class. Accrual rules that reflect the actual statute (NES in AU, FMLA in US, parental leave in UK, etc.). Carry-over rules. Use-it-or-lose-it deadlines. Pay-out on termination.
For the companies that need it (typically hourly workforces or operations with strict billing requirements), the module also includes time tracking — clocked hours, breaks, overtime calculation per the relevant award or FLSA rules. For salaried teams that don't need it, time tracking is simply off.
What you can actually do with it.
- 01Configurable leave policies per country and employee class
- 02Statutory leave accrual: NES (AU), FMLA (US), state-specific sick leave
- 03Annual leave, personal/sick leave, compassionate leave, parental leave, LSL (AU)
- 04Carry-over rules and use-it-or-lose-it deadlines
- 05Pay-out on termination per jurisdiction
- 06Team calendar with who-is-out visualisation
- 07Optional time tracking for hourly workers
- 08Overtime calculation per FLSA / award / award-classification rules
- 09Casual loading calculation (AU)
- 10Manager approval workflow with delegation
The right fit, honestly.
Multi-jurisdiction employers, hourly workforces, and any team where "we just use a Google Calendar" has stopped scaling. Especially valuable for AU employers managing NES compliance and US employers managing state-by-state sick leave laws.

Where this fits in the wider system.
What you might be wondering.
Does this replace our payroll system?
No — it integrates with payroll. The module owns the leave balance and time data; payroll owns the actual payment calculation.
How does the module handle unlimited PTO policies?
It tracks when people are out (so the team calendar works and managers have visibility) but does not enforce a balance. For unlimited-PTO companies the module is effectively a coordination tool, not a balance tracker.
Does it handle Australian long service leave?
Yes, with state-by-state accrual rules. LSL is one of the most variable AU leave types and one of the most commonly mishandled — the module enforces the rules per state of employment.
