People Records software

The system of record for everyone.

Core HR — employee records, org chart, employment lifecycle events, and the master data that every other module reads from. The foundational system that should have been there from day one.

What's on this page

  1. The opinion behind it — what this module does and why it's built this particular way.
  2. Key capabilities — a tactile list of the actual features in the module.
  3. Who it's for — company stage, team size, and the kind of HR operator this fits.
  4. Documents that pair with it — $49 templates available right now that work with this module.
  5. Connected modules — how this fits in the wider system.
  6. Frequently asked questions — the things prospects most often ask before deciding.

II.The opinion behind it

What this module actually does.

Every HR module ultimately needs to know two things: who works here, and what is their employment relationship. People Records is the master source of truth for both. Employee profiles, org chart, employment history, role changes, manager changes, location changes, employment classification.

This is the unglamorous foundation that the rest of the system reads from. Performance management reads "who is this person's current manager." Compensation reads "what is their current pay band." Leave reads "how long have they worked here." If People Records is wrong, everything downstream is wrong.

The opinion in this module: keep it tight. The data captured is the data needed, not the data possible. Custom fields exist but every one requires a justification. The result is a system that's easy to maintain accurately — which is more important than completeness in aspirational fields no one fills in.

IV.Who this is for

The right fit, honestly.

Every company past 10 employees. Especially companies that have outgrown a shared spreadsheet or are setting up HR systems for the first time after operating on tribal knowledge.

VII.Frequently asked

What you might be wondering.

Is this the HRIS itself, or a piece of one?

Together with the other modules, this is the HRIS. People Records is the system-of-record piece — the part most HRIS products call "Core HR."

Can we migrate from our current HRIS?

Yes. The migration tool reads from BambooHR, Rippling, Workday, ADP, Gusto, and most major HRIS exports. Org-chart structure, employment history, and custom fields all transfer.

How do you handle international employees?

The module supports multi-entity, multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction setups out of the box. Each entity can have its own employment-classification taxonomy (US W-2 vs 1099 vs intern; AU permanent vs casual vs fixed-term; etc.).
